Admissions Application form 2021

Mortimer Pre-school is registered for up to 24 children aged 2* to 5 years per session (*term after child turns 2 years old).


It is our intention to make our setting accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community. We’ll aim to ensure that all sections of our community have access to the setting through open, fair and clearly communicated procedures.


We will arrange our admissions list in birth order. In addition, we may take into account:

Date of Birth

Support for vulnerable families

Proximity of the home to the setting

Length of time on the waiting list

We have one main intake of children per year (in September in line with local schools), when there will  be most flexibility in session availability, however we do also have smaller intakes in January and after Easter.


To enable us to work to a fair admissions process then we ask that all applications meet the following deadlines;

- September Starts: Allocation of spaces is made in April.  All applications should be received by the 1st May.

- January Starts: Allocation of spaces is made in November.  All applications should be received by the 1st November.

- Post-Easter Starts: Allocation of spaces is made in January.  All applications should be received by the 1st February.


We are unable to routinely offer places for mid-term starts unless exceptional circumstances

The Admissions Process


Step 1: Register your child on our admissions list by completing an admissions list application form which you download from the homepage or at the bottom of this page.  Once we have received your completed form together with a copy of your child's birth certificate we will add your child to our admissions list.


Step 2: We will contact you to confirm receipt of your application form and that your child has been added to our admissions list.


Step 3: We will contact you at the beginning of the term before your child is eligible to start at Mortimer Pre-school to confirm that you still want them to be considered for a place


Step 4:  We will then contact you to confirm the sessions that you want your child to attend


Step 5:  We will then follow up with a formal offer confirming your child's place and session requirements

Once you have accepted the place, you and your child will be invited to attend a session before they are due to start at pre-school.  This visit helps your child to settle into the pre-school environment more easily and gives you a better understanding of what happens during the pre-school sessions.

During this session a member of staff will go through further registration details to find out more about your child, detailing their likes and dislikes, what they enjoy doing, if they have any medical requirements, allergies etc.

Your child will be assigned to a member of staff to be their key person. The key person will work closely with you and your child, helping your child to settle in and monitor and encourage their development.
